Writing library policies and procedures is an important task, but is often at the bottom of a busy library board's to-do list. This guide is designed to provide some sample policies, along with resources to make the process a little faster and easier. This guide also provides a list of the policies, at a minimum, each library in the Central Kansas Library System should have.

New policies include, but are not limited to:

  • The tool lending waiver from the Lake County Library in Leadville, Colorado
  • The North Liberty Account Reconciliation Template from North Liberty, Iowa
  • The Circulation, Computer and Internet Use, and the Library Access for Sex Offenders Convicted of Sex Offenses Against Minors, all submitted from Dubuque County Iowa (Thanks, Andrew Fuerste-Henry!)
  • The recently-updated Request for Reconsideration of Library Materials, Resources, or Programs from the Lone Cone Library in Norwood, Colorado

AND the Succession Plan for Director changes from the Red Feather Mountain Library District in Colorado.

The database is easily searchable by keyword and has over 140 policy samples from libraries like yours. (As well as personnel manuals, job description samples, and forms/guidelines.)
