Library boards should try to annually conduct a brief self-assessment to make sure they are operating in compliance with applicable laws and are working in a productive manner to support the library and the library director. These assessments will help determine areas where additional further training is needed. Evaluations increase collaboration within the Board and help create a more cohesive board.
